We're back! 3.21 Thailand update

It is hard to believe we've been gone from the USA for a month already; and only back home at Faith Village 2 weeks! The day we left Bismarck, North Dakota it was -20F; and when we arrived in Bangkok Thailand it was midnight, and still about 89F. That's a huge temperature difference! There are so many crazy stories about all the requirements and hurdles we had to jump to return - stories about how things went horribly wrong. Just know, God always came through!
"Great is thy faithfulness, Oh God my father..."
We spent our first two weeks in mandatory quarantine (at our expense) in Bangkok. Let's just say, the best part of quarantine was the forced rest. It gave us plenty of time to overcome jetlag.
"There is no shadow of turning with Thee..."
Family Life
Since our return, there was much to do to clean out the house, re-unpack and repair the things that deteriorated in our prolonged absence. Unfortunately, Tim's motor scooter he had purchased (on the cheap) 3 years ago died while we were gone, and the cost to repair it would be more than it's worth; leaving us without our own transportation. We've been borrowing transportation to make trips to town when necessary. We've (meaning one or both of us) also attended church, played on the worship team for Sunday a.m. and mid-week live-cast, attended women's cell group, a baby shower, a baptism, attended (and sang) at a wedding, lead worship practice, attended the end-of-year presentation of the secondary students here at Faith Village, etc. This is birthday month for Tim and I, which is a perfect excuse to hang out, eat all the sweet treats, and work on reconnecting with the team and being intentional about improvements and challenges to all that they have been doing so well while we were gone. We have a new neighbor, Miss Natalie, who is a great addition to the Faith Village family. Also, we begin Thai lessons as a family next week with "Kru Chart't" who has been doing a great job helping me with random requests, and staying with Timmy when we had to be gone overnight.
"Thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not..."
A few of you have reached out and wondered about Timothy during this transition. He handled quarantine like a champ, journaling every day and catching up on his homeschool. I think he enjoyed the structure and being able to acclimate as a family. Since arriving at Faith Village, we barely see him! He's become quite the social butterfly! He does his school work in the mornings, and his afternoons are spent popping in at the school to listen in on some classes, he's been taking at least one meal a day with the other kids. And ping pong. Lots of ping pong - probably 7 out of 10 visitors to our house only come by to challenge Timmy to ping pong... Today he was called out by one of the "uncles" and then later by a "pack" of little ones (all missing their front teeth). He usually emerges around dark covered in mud. He's doing well so far.
"As thou hast been thou forever will be."
What about Asaph's Journal?
Our original launch date was going to be late October of last year; but we were delayed in getting back to do that, due to CoVid. In the waiting, as God always does, He's been working! We've recently met with some adventurous missionaries and are just amazed at how God is orchestrating unlikely partnerships in this season! I am still searching for the "right" interpreter for the school and now have a few people with feelers out. He's got the right person, I know it!
"Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfullness!"
The administrative team at Victory Church, Thaton have been working on translating the book, 'Exploring the Prophetic' by Shawn Bolz for the school. This is important because there is not much available on this topic, as far as New Testament prophecy; or training on how to hear and actively cooperate with the spirit. We recently met with a young lady who can translate the book, 'Prophetic Worship - Releasing the Songs of Heaven into the Earth' by Kay Crawford, which would be another very beneficial text to have for the school.
"Morning by morning new mercies I see..."
The attempts to get back to Thailand, found us having to be creative with our Visa process; and then do a lot of trusting God to work out the details! We were denied our family Visa due to CoVid (I am aware that makes no sense). We finally applied for a standard 90 day tourist Visa, with the understanding we would pray for a miracle and begin working on changing that Visa to something more conducive to our purpose here, before our first immigration appointment in April.
"Great is thy faithfulness..."
Well, did I mention our God is faithful?! He also gives favor! Without going into details, we've been offered a pretty flexible visa good for up to 1 year - we were told how "special" this is - and it is our only option, unless we want to return to the USA, reapply and go through quarantine again (which is costly, and counter productive). Once quarantine requirements and travel becomes easier, we would have full freedom to travel and return without penalty. This comes at a big, unexpected price; but it is rare to be afforded this option, and it allows us to openly do what we came to do, be who we are, and not have to meet so many of the typical demands associated with other long term visas.
"Great is thy faithfulness..."
So, God has been working! We've spent a lot of time in meetings, becoming reacquainted, vision casting, planning, praying, preparing, and reminding ourselves to trust Him in the process. Grateful to be back, overwhelmed by how much needs to be done, but hopeful for what He is putting together - for His good!
"Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me."
Needs / Prayer Points
Thank you so much for your continued prayers, words of encouragement, scriptures in my messenger and financial support! Please feel free to reach out with questions, or for clarification. Please believe with us for:
- Monthly finances (God said Go, so as soon as we got the money and visa to leave, we did. We currently have 0% of our reoccurring monthly budget raised.)
- Cost to translate 'Prophetic Worship - Releasing the Songs of Heaven into the Earth' by Kay Crawford = $170.00
- Cost for 1 year Visa (for the entire family) during CoVid (due next week) = $2,150.00
- Budget to purchase reliable, previously owned transportation
- The right interpreter that feels called to Asaph's Journal at the right price.
- Wisdom and discernment in planning out the changes / scheduling for the school term and the team here at Victory Church.
He is our greatest adventure!
Tim, Jr. & Misty Scott
